Growing franchise interest in Portugal

FDS can report an increased interest in owning a franchise in Portugal after attending the recent Portugese Franchise Exhibition Expofranchise 2010.

Growing franchise interest in Portugal

The Portuguese Franchise Exhibition was a launch pad for more than 40 new Portuguese franchise companies with a wide variety of ideas. These ranged from fast food delivery franchises to manufacturers of fashion garments with these deciding that the franchise method was the best route to follow.

At the event, FDS can report a very high degree of interest for the launch of the CeX franchise to the Portuguese market from both individuals and organisations considering purchasing Master Franchise Rights.

It appears that many franchisors in Portugal are recognising the benefits of owning and operating not one, but a number of Masters. There is growing interest in the retail sector due to the current low rentals available.

Spanish franchise brands are also eagerly sought after and with more than 50 Spanish Master Franchises already operating in Portugal with some considerable success, they have clearly demonstrated their enthusiasm for these type of investments.

A number of European Embassies were also visiting and considering the benefit of organising dedicated country pavilions for next year. Perhaps our new government will give some consideration to supporting similar franchise events out of the UK in the future since these do provide an excellent return on investment.
